Amazing two days make us feel like the circles of our lives are continuously closing and opening in new unexpected ways. Yesterday (19.09) we had a wonderful meeting with Itto Morita (prof. Toshiharu Kasai) and Mika Takeuchi and Tsugumi Matsudaira at the cosy house of our host Masakazu Takahashi. A meeting during which we were commemorating the first butoh performance presented in Gdańsk by the Japanese company GooSayTen led by Itto and Mika in 2003 in Club Żak. They danced a piece called "Amaereya" that a later inspired me and my theatre friends to create a company named Amareya Theatre, now functioning as Amareya Theatre & Guests. 16 years have passed, and we meet again, this time in Sapporo. Since 2003, together with our Japanese partners, we continue to build the bridges between Poland and Japan, bridges between people.
Today, we flew over to Akita and went by car to Tashiro to rehearse the pre-premiere of "(Re)verberations: Bridges Between Poland and Japan" feat. Tsugumi Matsudaira, Aleksandra Śliwińska, Natalia Chylińska, Katarzyna Pastuszak. Tomorrow at 2pm you can see us at Akita Village Art Festival in the 鎌鼬美術館 (The Kamaitachi Museum of Art). It is great to be back in Tohoku, the cradle of Hijikata Tatsumi! Grateful to all that helped us to come here.
